FAQs

How is my payment taken?

Online payments are made via Stripe and PayPal and all major credit cards are accepted.

When will my order be delivered?

Once payment is received I will dispatch your order as quickly as possible.  Please bear in mind that all items are hand made to order and can take up to 2 weeks before dispatch.  If you require your items more quickly than this please contact me directly and I will do my absolute best to help.

How will my item/s be packaged?

All items are beautifully packaged in a branded gift box, wrapped in tissue paper and finished with a luxurious teal ribbon made from recycled plastic bottles.  Please do let me know if you would like a gift tag and message included.

Gift box return scheme

The gift box that your order arrives in is designed to keep your jewellery in so that it stays looking its best for years to come.  However, if you prefer to store your pieces in your own jewellery box you can take advantage of my gift box return scheme to send back your unused boxes in return for a money off voucher.

For between 1 and 3 boxes you will receive a £5 off voucher and for 4+ boxes you will receive a £10 voucher.  Please note that the boxes must be perfect condition with no marks or scratches to qualify for the voucher.

Do get in touch if you would like to return your jewellery boxes and claim your money off voucher.  I will send you a stamped addressed envelope to put your boxes in and drop off at your nearest post box.

How much is delivery within the UK?

Standard UK delivery (Royal Mail First Class Signed For) is £4.50 for purchases under £150 and free for purchases £150 and over.  Express delivery (Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed) is £7.50. All orders will require a signature on receipt.

Do you deliver overseas?

Yes. International delivery costs £15 flat rate and orders are dispatched using Royal Mail's International Tracked & Signed service.  All orders will require a signature on receipt.

The delivery charge does not include any additional import taxes which may be payable on receipt of your item.  Please be aware that following the UK's exit from the European Union, customs procedures and charges may now apply to orders being sent to EU countries.

As of 1 July 2021, items imported into the EU with a value of €22 or less became no longer exempt from VAT. This means that all orders are now subject to the local rate of VAT in the customer’s country which you are liable to pay before receiving your goods.

What do I do if I want to return my purchase?

Should you wish to return an item, please notify me within 14 days of purchase by e-mailing info@elinhorgan.com with your name and the order number quoted in your confirmation e-mail.  Please note that bespoke items, including rings, which have been created just for you cannot be returned unless faulty.

You will then have a further 14 days to return your item, unworn and in its original packaging to Elin Horgan, 21 Elton Road, Bishopston, Bristol, BS7 8DF.  Please note that, unless they are broken or damaged, you must cover the postage cost of returning unwanted goods.  It’s recommended that you ask for a proof of postage when sending them.

If an item is faulty, please let me know immediately and I will send you a replacement or issue a full refund.

What is your jewellery making workshops cancellation policy?

If you are no longer able to attend a jewellery making workshop and cancel with 14 or more days notice you will receive a full refund.  If you cancel with less than 14 days notice you will receive a refund of 50% of the ticket price.  Please do not attend a class if you have Covid symptoms or have tested positive for Covid. If you are unable to attend due to Covid, please get in touch to discuss the options.

How should I care for my jewellery?

Any silver jewellery exposed to the air will develop a layer of tarnish over time.  This is caused by a chemical reaction between the silver and oxygen, moisture, sulfides and chlorides in the air.  To ensure that your jewellery remains in the best possible condition keep it in a box with a tarnish free pad and occasionally use a soft cloth or silver dip to clean.  Oxidised and gold plated pieces should not be polished as this will remove the surface colour.

Gold pieces are electroplated using a 23.7ct solution which coats the Ecosilver.  This coating can wear off over time and so care should be taken to store the jewellery in the box provided to prevent scratches through contact with other pieces.  It is advisable to remove jewellery when swimming and showering and, where possible, to avoid contact with perfumes and other cosmetics which can damage the finish.
