Bespoke handmade jewellery & commissions

What is bespoke or custom made jewellery?

Creating a bespoke jewellery design that’s custom made to your specifications is a lovely way of owning a truly unique piece of jewellery. Whether it’s an engagement ring, wedding band or a special handmade jewellery gift for yourself or a loved one, I love working with clients to make their dream piece of jewellery a reality.

I design and make each one-of-a-kind piece in my studio in Bishopston, Bristol with additional help from other UK-based craftspeople such as casters, engravers and specialist stone setters where necessary.

You can find out more about how the process works, read some kind words from previous clients and see some examples of my bespoke work below.   You might also like my blog post 5 questions to ask when commissioning bespoke jewellery before you get started.

If you're after something extra special and unique, you might also like to check out my fine jewellery collection for inspiration, a one-of-a-kind pieces hand crafted from solid 9ct recycled yellow gold and ethically sourced gemstones.

How do I commission a piece of bespoke jewellery?

We’ll start the process with a no obligation phone or video consultation where I’ll talk to you in more detail about your ideas, inspiration, timeline and budget.

Based on these discussions I will then draw up a series of design sketches for your unique piece of jewellery and we’ll agree on design, metal and stone choices where relevant.

How much does it cost to commission a bespoke piece of custom jewellery?

Prices typically start from £200, depending on the piece.  Re-modelling projects start at £300.

Once the design has been agreed I will provide you with a full quote and a completion date for the finished piece.  On approval of the quote you will be asked to make the first payment instalment of 50% of the fee.

I will then order the materials and start working on your jewellery, keeping you up to date on how things are progressing.  Once your unique piece of jewellery has been completed I will invoice you for the final 50% payment and then package and send the piece to you or arrange for collection if you are local to Bristol.

How long does it take to commission a bespoke piece of jewellery?

There is usually a waiting list for commissions so please allow at least 6 weeks if you have a hard deadline like a brithday or anniversary that you're commissioning the bespoke piece for.

Kind words from previous Elin Horgan Jewellery bespoke clients

"Elin was an absolute joy to work with, a fountain of knowledge in respect of techniques, materials and textures, and a brilliant designer with an extraordinary attention to detail that produced a truly beautiful piece and a veritable treasure to have.  My wife has since comissioned three further pieces from Elin, which, to my mind, is pretty fair testament to her brilliance! I would have no hesitation in recommending Elin whatsoever."  Paul

"The necklace arrived safely today. It's gorgeous. I love it and think Izzy will too. I have loved the process. I admit I was a bit nervous - it's a lot of money to spend and I usually like dealing face to face with this kind of thing but you interpreted my ramblings so well right at the start I knew I was in safe hands! The photos throughout are lovely to have as well and your communication has been brilliant.”  Suzanne

"I have commissioned 2 pieces from Elin and about to embark on my third. This has included Elin working with a design idea worked up by my teenage niece for her mum - such a personal and unique design. Elin perfectly transferred the rough design into a thing of wonder and beauty. Her ability to understand exactly what you are looking for surpasses expectations. The detail and the subtlety in her work are what makes it unique."  Lesley

"I’ve purchased a piece from the online collection and ordered a bespoke necklace too. Really impressed with the quality of the jewellery itself and Elin’s friendly and professional service. My bespoke order was a Christmas present, it arrived in plenty of time and communication was really clear throughout the process."  Sophie
